Although Amanda works with people of all ages and from all walks of life, she has a particular interest in working with women and their families as they negotiate the challenges of pre-conception, pregnancy, birth and beyond. Common reasons why someone might seek Amanda’s assistance include:
- coming to terms with infertility (primary and secondary)
- ongoing fertility difficulties
- non-directive pregnancy counselling
- miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal loss
- birth trauma
- antenatal anxiety and depression
- parenting NICU and premature babies
- transition to parenthood
- infant sleep and settling
- feeding difficulties
- coping with an unsettled baby
- parenting in the pre-school years.
Amanda adapts her therapeutic approach to suit the needs of each individual and unique family she sees, drawing on the latest science from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment theory and research on compassion and mindfulness. Above all, she values the relationship she has with her clients and respects their need to work through issues at their pace.
