When you heal a mother, you change a generation: Clinical skills for resolving birth trauma
This workshop will enable clinicians withexisting clinical skills and knowledge in trauma and/or clinical intervention,to work more effectively with perinatal mental health clients. Birth trauma isa common precursor to Postnatal Depression and Anxiety Disorders, and candisrupt infant bonding in the early years. Clinicians attending this workshopwill work beyond taking a “business as usual” clinical approach, instead embracinga model of intervention which acknowledges the complexity of physiological,cognitive and familial factors that can impact upon a mother’s recovery fromtrauma during the postpartum period. The main focus is on skill-building, sothat attendees come away with practical and enhanced skills they can put into immediatepractice.
